Lethbridge to Host Baseball Canada Prairie Qualifier for the Justin Morneau Cup
Some of the best amateur baseball talent in Western Canada is coming to Lethbridge this spring as the city hosts the Baseball Canada Prairie Qualifier for the prestigious Justin Morneau Cup.
The tournament will take place at two of southern Alberta’s premier baseball facilities — Spitz Stadium and Lloyd Nolan Yard — bringing together top teams from across the Prairie provinces in pursuit of a spot at the national championship.
Organized under the banner of Baseball Canada, the Prairie Qualifier serves as a key pathway to the national stage. Teams from Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba will compete in a multi-day tournament format, with the top teams earning the opportunity to advance and represent the Prairies in the Justin Morneau Cup championship event later this season.
Named after Canadian baseball legend Justin Morneau, the tournament celebrates elite competition and player development while showcasing the strength of baseball across the country. Morneau, a former American League MVP and one of Canada’s greatest baseball players, lends his name to the event that highlights the next generation of talent.
Fans attending the Prairie Qualifier can expect a full slate of high-level games featuring many of the top collegiate and amateur prospects in Western Canada. The event will also provide a major boost to the local baseball community, drawing players, coaches, families, and scouts to Lethbridge for a week of competitive baseball.
With games scheduled across both Spitz Stadium and Lloyd Nolan Yard, spectators will have multiple opportunities to catch the action and support teams competing for Prairie supremacy.
For Lethbridge, the event further reinforces the city’s growing reputation as one of Canada’s premier baseball destinations — hosting major tournaments, collegiate competition, and events that bring the baseball community together.
Additional tournament details, schedules, and participating teams will be announced in the coming weeks. Fans are encouraged to follow local baseball channels and organizations for updates as the Prairie Qualifier approaches.
