Thank you for your interest in becoming a host family with the Lethbridge Bulls! Opening your home to a Lethbridge Bulls player is a rewarding way to support elite summer baseball while forming meaningful connections that often last well beyond the season. Our host families (also known as billets) play a vital role in the success of our athletes and our organization, as each year they invite a Bulls player or more into their lives while providing a place for our players to stay during the season.

The Bulls Season

The Lethbridge Bulls season runs from the end of May until mid-August. Players typically arrive in Lethbridge in mid-May and depart around mid-August. That said, not all players arrive for the start of the season or stay for the full season for reasons such as homesickness, professional opportunities, or recruitment to different schools and being required to report earlier than season's end.

When you sign up to be a Bulls host family, the expectation is that you are available to billet for the duration of the season. Flexibility and understanding are appreciated, as summer baseball can be dynamic for student-athletes.

Bulls Players

Bulls players are university and college student-athletes from across Canada and the United States, generally between the ages of 17 and 23. They are dedicated to pursuing their baseball dreams while continuing to meet their academic goals.

Our players are typically respectful, motivated, and grateful for the opportunity to play summer baseball. We have been told by previous host families that our players are polite, responsible, and easy to welcome into their households. They value structure, routine, and a supportive home environment.

What Is Expected as a Host Family?

The primary role of a host family is to provide a safe, comfortable, and inviting place for a Bulls player to call home during the season. This includes a private bedroom, basic meals, and general toiletries. Host families are also asked to help ensure players are following the Bulls’ rules and expectations, which each athlete agrees to uphold as a member of the organization. While you are not responsible for supervising their baseball activities, providing guidance, structure, and a supportive presence is greatly appreciated.

How Many Host Families Do the Bulls Need?

Each season, the Bulls need to billet approximately 30 players. Families who are able and willing to host more than one player are incredibly valuable to the program, as it can make the transition easier for both players and host families. Having teammates living together often helps players feel more comfortable and settled.

What Do the Bulls Offer Host Families?

To show our appreciation, the Lethbridge Bulls provide financial assistance to help offset the costs of hosting a player, (2) season tickets to watch your billet play throughout the summer, discounts at the Bulls Pro Shop, and additional gifts and benefits from time to time related to the Lethbridge Bulls Baseball Club. As an added bonus, hosting a Bulls player can be an incredible mentorship opportunity, especially for families with Little Leaguers or young baseball fans. Many host families find the experience both fun and inspiring, creating memories and relationships that last long after the final pitch of the season.
