Welcome back Kalem Haney!

01/26/2022 12:00 PM -

Another returning player has signed on with the Lethbridge Bulls for the 2022 Western Canadian Baseball League season.

The Lethbridge Bulls are pleased to announce the return of infielder Kalem Haney. Haney is from Lethbridge, Alberta and currently plays for the University of Mary, an NCAA Division II school in Bismarck, North Dakota. The University of Mary Marauders compete in the NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference). Haney suited up in 17 games for the Bulls last summer posting a .250 batting average and driving in eight runs.

Haney says he is looking forward to playing in front of the Lethbridge fanbase after playing in Lethbridge his whole life.

“Playing in Lethbridge my whole life, growing up it's been super cool seeing guys I know in the baseball community and seeing them at the games. It's always nice playing in front of my family and friends every day.”

In 2022, Western Canadian Baseball League will be operating a full schedule with 11 teams and the league being open to international players. Last season, the WCBL operated with only 5 teams and the league was only open to Canadian born talent. Haney says he is looking forward to the challenge of seeing more teams.

“I think it will be cool, it won’t be the same teams we are playing the whole time. We’re going to see more of Western Canada and get to go out to Saskatchewan. Every team is going to want to play us and they’re going to want to beat us since we are the defending champions.”

Flex packs and season tickets for the 2022 Lethbridge Bulls season are on sale now.
