Huge 9th Leads to Bulls Win!

07/22/2016 12:08 PM -

The Bulls were in Okotoks last night to make up a game that was rained out last week. Under beautiful sunny skies the Bulls scored 4 runs in the 9th, including a 3 run homerun from Mike Moffat to down the Dawgs 6-4. The win got the Bulls to within 3 games of Medicine Hat and Okotoks who are tied for the West division lead. All three teams have 8 games remaining in the season. The Bulls will be in Medicine Hat tonight and tomorrow with a chance to close the gap in the standings.

Luc Hebert started on the mound for the Bulls and battled his way through 5 innings. Hebert really only made one mistake, a 3-0 pitch that first baseman Kellen Marruffo hit out of the ballpark. Jared Kennedy and Terrell Dorsey finished the game for the Bulls. The duo shut down the Dawgs offense and gave the team a chance to make a comeback. For Dorsey it was a sense of redemption after Okotoks had a similar comeback in the 9th inning of a game earlier in the season when the right hander was on the mound. The bounce back effort couldn't have come at a better time for the Bulls as they look to chase down the Mavs and the Dawgs as the season winds down.

The Bulls battled at the plate all night. Plenty of hard hit balls found Okotoks fielders, and the Bulls found themselves down 4-2 heading into the 9th. Evan Comeau had a fantastic at bat and smacked a 1 out double to right field to get the Bulls to within 1. Centre fielder Mike Moffat stepped to the plate and got into a 0-2 hole. Okotoks closer Christian Parsons left the 0-2 pitch up and Moffatt crushed a line drive over the centre field wall to give the Bulls a 6-4 lead. Dorsey finished off the game and the Bulls got out of dodge with a big win.

The Bulls are back in action the next two nights in Medicine Hat. The Mavs are tied for 1st in the division, and the Bulls will need a good showing if they want a chance at home field advantage in the playoffs.
