Bats come alive in a 18-10 W over the Bombers!06/16/2016 3:37 PM - Wednesday night for the Lethbridge Bulls was definitely one for the books. Wind storms in Brooks, AB howling out of their stadium at a speed of up to 65 kph allowed the Bulls offence to flourish. With 17 hits, 6 Homeruns, and 4 doubles, the Bulls made it very difficult for a Brook’s comeback. Winning the game 18-10. The Bulls move to 10-3 after back to back wins. Nate Lainhart had the ball for the Bulls in Wednesday’s match-up vs. the Bombers. He threw a respectable 5 inning, 2 strikeout start and he gets his 3rd win in his 3rd start of the season. “It wasn’t the best I’ve seen Nate throw but he definitely did a good job of keeping us in the game and limiting the wind factor tonight” said Head Coach Ryan Macdonald. Reliever’s shut down Brook’s offensive aside from a 7th inning defensive breakdown with compiled errors from the defence. Starting off the 7th strong, Dylan Theroux did not receive much help from his defence resulting in the Bulls bringing in reliever Tommy Garland who quickly stopped the 7th inning bleeding. Terrell Dorsey had another great outing putting in 2 innings of work with 2 strikeouts and no hits. Offensive production on this fine windy Alberta night was surreal. The bats literally came alive right from the first inning with Evan Comeau leading off the game with a single in the 6-hole. Travis Steinke was the big show of the night going 3 for 6 with 3 homeruns (4)! First time in recent Bull’s history Travis Steinke sends 3 balls over the wall while also picking up 8 RBI’s putting him in 1st place in the league for bomb’s and a close 2nd in RBI league leaders. Although it may seem unbelievable but Mitch McGeein (2) and Nolan Handley (2) both launched no doubt homeruns for the second game in a row. Coming up clutch in the top of the 8th while the Bull’s were only up 3 runs, Matt Malec sent a towering 2-run shot over the wall sending the Bull’s into the bottom of the 8th inning with a 5 run lead. Dominic Mercurio also had a 3 hit night helping out the offensive production! “The line-up is seeing the ball well as a group, everyone is feeding off of each others success and we have a deep bench. If we stay like this with the pitching support we have it will be very likely that we will go on another winning streak!” The Boy’s going to Okotoks on Friday; the bats are hot and ready to break the 1-1 series tiebreaker vs. the Dawgs organization. With so much offensive excitement over the last two nights, you will want to stay tuned on twitter for Bull’s updates!! |
