LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Bulls have re-signed SS Nick Ankermann out of Eastern New Mexico University (NCAA Division II).
The 6'0, 175 pound shortstop from Lethbridge, Alberta will be entering his third season in the Western Canadian Baseball League and second with the Bulls. Currently playing with the Eastern New Mexico University Greyhounds in the NCAA Division II - Lone Star Division, Ankermann has put up tremendous numbers, batting .360, with two home runs and 29 RBI in 44 games.
Last season, Ankermann manned shortstop for the Bulls, providing above average defence, while batting .238, scoring 17 runs and driving in 11 RBI. The Prairie Baseball Academy product is becoming a very well rounded player, which should see his batting numbers from last season improve, considering his monster year at Eastern New Mexico University.
Ankermann will be in contention to become the Bulls starting shortstop this season, but new additions to the roster may create a bit of a competetion, which will be something to keep an eye on.
The Bulls begin the year on the road in Edmonton as they take on the Prospect in a two-game series, before heading home for the VisitLethbridge.com Home Opener on May 30th. To purchase tickets, click here.
