Bulls Head on the Road 7-2

06/15/2017 9:24 AM -

The Bulls dropped a slugfest 11-9, to the Okotoks Dawgs on Wednesday night at Spitz Stadium to put them at 7-2 so far in 2017. The boys will hit the road Thursday morning as they head into a 5 game stretch against Edmonton and Fort McMurray starting tonight in Edmonton. The West Division is tight at the top with Edmonton leading the way at 8-2, Lethbridge and Okotoks are right behind with records of 7-2.

The Bulls have continued to hit the ball well to start off 2017. As a team the Bulls are batting .309 through 9 games. Leading the way is 2nd year catcher Carter Witbeck. Witbeck is hitting .462 (18-39) which is tops in the WMBL. Nolan Handley and Alex Bishop are also swinging the bat well thus far. Handley is hitting .417 (15-36) with 9 runs scored, 4 2B, 2 HR and 8 RBI. Alex Bishop is hitting a cool .378 (14-37) with 8 runs scored 3 2B, 3 HR and 13 RBI. Moving forward this trio will need to continue to swing the bat well if the Bulls look to stay near the top of the West Division.

On the other side of the ball the Bulls have been a little inconsistent on the mound so far. Chris Stodolka and Dawson Moser have been lights out at the end of ball games. Moser has yet to give up a run in his 5 innings of work, and Stodolka has 4 saves already in 2017 with a 2.25 ERA. Brady Moxham turned in a gem on Saturday throwing 7 innings of one run ball against the Regina Red Sox. Moxham gave up only 4 hits and struck out 7 Red Sox hitters. Big right hander Greg Hollman is also having a nice start to 2017. Hollman is 2-0 in two starts with a 3.64 ERA, 12 strikeouts and only 1 walk. Hollman will get the ball tonight in Edmonton as the Bulls look to rebound after last nights loss.
