Bulls Drop Back to .500 Mark
The Bulls opened a two game road trip in Medicine Hat Monday with a 4-2 loss to the Mavericks. It evens the Bulls record at 3 and 3.
Both teams collected 8 hits, but after the Bulls opened the scoring taking a 1-0 lead in the top the third, the Mavericks came back with three runs in the bottom of third. The three run Mavericks third turned out to be the difference in the game. The Bulls closed the gap to 3-2 in the 6th, but the Mavericks got an insurance run in the seventh.
Righthander Taylor Reid of Danville, California, took the loss in his first start of the season. He went five innings, allowed 3 runs, 5 hits, struck out 3, and walked 2. Alex Tufts pitched the sixth, Richard Pharr took over in the seventh, and another newcomer, Jimmy Munnil of Roseville, California, saw his first action with the Bulls and finished up in the eighth.
Veteran shortstop Dustin Bissonnette continues to hit well in the early going. He went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored.
The Bulls visit Swift Current Tuesday to face the undefeated Indians. They're 4 and 0 to start the season on top of the Central Division.
Thursday the Bulls open a four game homestand against the Okotoks Dawgs, with game time 7:05 pm. Friday, the Edmonton Prospects are the visitors and Okotoks is back for another 7:05 game Saturday. Then Medicine Hat is in town to close out the homestand Sunday afternoon at Spitz Stadium, with game time 2:35 pm
