A solid outing by the bullpen and an opportunistic offence lead the Bulls to a 6-4 win over the Swift Current Indians Friday night at Spitz Stadium.

The Bulls made the most of four errors by the Indians and lead 4-1 after four innings. The first three runs came in the third on two hits and two Swift Current miscues. Veteran Ryan MacDonald lead off by reaching on an error. Eric Dorton followed with a double, then went to third base on another error that allowed MacDonald to score the first run of the game. Josh Lowden beat out a ground ball for a base hit and drove in Dorton. Zach Rhodes brought Lowden home with a sacifice fly.

After Swift Current veteran Conrad Funk scored on a wild pitch in the top of the third, the Bulls regained their three run lead in the bottom of the inning. Jamie Mitchell lead off with a base hit. Brady Farrington walked, and MacDonald reached on a base hit. Dorton grounded into a double play to bring home Mitchell.

The Indians tied the game in the top of the fifth with three runs. Clean up hitter Nik Gumeson hit a two runner homer off Bulls starter Brandon Petite to tie the game at 4-4.

Mitchell scored the winning run in the fifth without the benefit of a base hit. Swift Current starter Chris Maloney struck out Mitchell. But the rookie catcher reached base after Indians catcher Bo Lybeck couldn't hold on and the wild pitch rolled to the screen behind home plate. Farrington walked, and Mitchell scored when shortstop Gumeson threw wild to first base, after getting the force out on Farrington at second.

The Bulls got an insurance run in the eighth. Brendan Miller lead off with a walk and went to second on a passed ball. Lowden moved him to third on a ground out to first base, then Mitchell drove in Miller with another ground out to the shortstop.

Jared Mortenson got the win in relief of Petite. Mortenson pitched a scoreless sixth and was the pitcher of record when the Bulls scored the go-ahead run. Petite went five innings, allowed four runs on six hits, had three strikeouts, and seven walks.

Richard Pharr pitched the seventh, Jimmy Munnil the eighth, and Steve Hogue closed out in the ninth for his second save of the season. Munnil allowed one hit and Hogue walked one.

Both teams had seven hits. Swift Current had four errors, while the Bulls defence had an errorless game. Mitchell was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Jesse Sawyer was also 2 for 4 with a double.

The win gives the Bulls a record of 20 and 15. The West Division-leading Okotoks Dawgs (24-10) are the visitors Saturday night for a 7:05 game.
