Bulls Leave Edmonton With A Loss
Unless the teams meet in the play offs, the Bulls have made their final trip to Edmonton this season. And after a shut out win (5-0) Sunday the Prospects turned the tables Monday and beat the Bulls 6-1.
Four Edmonton pitchers combined to stymie the Bulls. Sheldon McDonald was the winning pitcher. He went six innings and allowed only one hit. Jeremy Goodall, Jason Borchardt and Alex Kreis all pitched one inning of relief for the Prospects.
The Bulls could only manage three hits, while Edmonton got ten hits, with single runs in the first and second innings, two more in the fourth, and one run again in the seventh and eighth.
Taylor Reid (1-4) took the loss. He went four innings, allowed three runs, (two earned), four hits, and two walks. Reid also recorded seven strikeouts. Jimmy Munnil pitched three innings in relief, gave up two runs, three hits, walked one, and struck out three. Steve Hogue came in for the eighth and allowed one run on three hits, had no walks, and struck out one.
Coach Ken Fuglerud started the game in centerfield and was 1 for 4. Joel Blake had a double in the ninth inning to drive in the Bulls only run.
The loss gives the team a record of 16 and 13. After a break in the schedule Tuesday, the Bulls visit Medicine Hat for a pair of games Wednesday and Thursday, then return home to host the Regina Red Sox Friday and Saturday. Game time at Spitz Stadium both nights is 7:05.
