Bannister and Pharr Combine For Shut Out Win
After going 7 and 1 on their recent home stand, the Bulls opened a four game stint on the road with a 5-0 win Sunday over the Edmonton Prospects in the opener of a two game series.
Timely hitting and solid pitching continues to be the formula for the Bulls. It's their eighth win in their last nine games and gives the team a record of 16 and 12. A four run fourth inning was all the support Matt Bannister needed to record his third win of the season against one loss.
Bannister pitched six innings, gave up four hits, a walk and stuck out one. Richard Pharr came in for the last three innings. He didn't allow a hit or a walk and struck out three.
The Bulls had nine hits in the game, with Jesse Sawyer going 2 for 4 with a double, while Ryan MacDonald was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Eric Dorton was 1 for 3 at the plate and drove in two runs. Joel Blake was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
After another game in Edmonton Monday, the Bulls have Tuesday off, then visit Medicine Hat for a pair of games Wednesday and Thursday. The Regina Red Sox pay their only visit of the season to Spitz Stadium for a pair of games Friday and Saturday.
