It's a been a good home stand so far for the Bulls, four wins in a row, and two starting pitchers have recorded their first wins of the season. Rookie righthander Taylor Reid entered the win column Monday night as the Bulls knocked off the Weyburn Beavers 10-4 at Spitz Stadium.
The game was scoreless through the first three innings. But the Bulls got on the scoreboard with five runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth.
Only one of the five batters who scored in the fourth got on with a base hit. Three were walked and one reached after being hit by a pitch. Zach Rhodes doubled home two runs, Joel Blake scored on a wild pitch and Brady Farrington walked with the bases loaded to bring in another run.
The four runs in the fifth were scored in similar fashion. Two were walked, another was hit by a pitch, and only one got on with a base hit. Blake scored on another wild pitch and Farrington walked for the second consecutive inning with the bases loaded, in fact Farrington walked four times in the game, scored twice, and had two RBIs. Eric Dorton also drove in a run with a base hit and Rhodes got another RBI with a sacrifice fly.
Weyburn actually out hit the Bulls 9-8 but weren't able to get anything going against Reid, who is now 1 and 3. He went six innings and allowed one run on four hits, and struck out five with no walks. Mitch Schaafsma pitched the seventh, Richard Pharr the eighth, and Steve Hogue closed out in the ninth.
Pharr and Hogue both struck out the side after allowing two base runners. Pharr walked the first two men he faced, while Hogue allowed a walk and gave up a double.
