Bulls Open Road Trip With A Win
It took a late game comeback, but the Bulls opened their nine game road trip with a win Tuesday night, doubling up the Saskatoon Yellowjackets 6-3. The win moves the Bulls' record back to the .500 mark with 6 wins and 6 losses.
The Bulls took a 1-0 lead in the second, Saskatoon tied the game in the fourth, but the Bulls got another run to take a 2-1 lead after six. The Yellowjackets scored a pair of runs to go up 3-2 after seven. But the Bulls battled back, tying the game in the eighth, and then scored three times in the ninth for the win.
Rookie Josh Lowden had the game winning hit, a single in the ninth to drive Scott Hornstra. The Bulls got 10 hits. Stephen Hobbins went 3 for 5, and was MacDonald was 2 for 3. Eric Dorton also drove in two runs.
Richard Pharr, the fourth pitcher in the game for the Bulls, got the win. Starter Alex Tufts pitched five solid innings, allowing one run, 8 hits, and striking out 2. Rob Hogue and Taylor Reid also came in from the bullpen. Pharr finished up strong, pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth. He didn't allow a hit and recorded three strikeouts.
The Bulls continue their road trip Wednesday night with another game in Saskatoon. Righthander Matt Bannister gets the start on the mound.
