Bulls Lose Another One Run Game
For the second night in a row the Bulls lost a one run game. After losing 10-9 to Okotoks Thursday, the Bulls dropped a 3-2 decision to the Edmonton Prospects Friday in the second game of a four game homestand.
The Prospects scored all three runs in the third inning off starter and losing pitcher Matt Banninster. Edmonton collected five of their eight hits in the third. A lead off triple by right fielder Boston Langley and a two RBI double by third baseman Frank Specht were the keys to the rally.
Edmonton starter and winning pitcher Jeremy Goodall had the Bulls off-balance most of the game. He went eight innings, allowed two runs on three hits, struck out two and walked five.
Shortstop Dustin Bissonette went 2 for 3 at the plate with two doubles an RBI and a stolen base. He drove in catcher Joel Blake with the Bulls first run in the third, after Blake was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Blake drove in the other run in the seventh, an RBI single that plated rightfielder Zach Rhodes, who lead off the bottom of the seventh with a double. Left fielder Ryan MacDonald, hitting ninth, reached base four times, all on walks.
Richard Pharr pitched the sixth and the seventh, Rob Hogue came in for the eighth, and Jimmy Munnil finished up in the ninth. The bullpen core gave up three hits and walked four, but did not allow a run.
The Bulls two Assistant Coaches saw action in the game. Ken Fuglerud replaced Eric Dorton in the seventh and John Henry Marquardt came in for Stephen Hobbins in the eighth. Marquardt flew out to left field in his only plate appearance, and Fuglerud flew out to center field twice, including the final out of the game.
The loss drops the Bulls to 4 and 5, as the homestand continues Saturday night. Okotoks returns to Spitz Stadium for a 7 o'clock game. It's post secondary night. College and University students who present a valid student ID card get into the game for one dollar.
